Role title: RF Driver Engineer
This key role is a real opportunity for the right candidate to be part of building and growing Europe’s most exciting new fabless semiconductor business in cellular wireless. Based in Bristol, UK, the successful candidate will be involved with all aspects of RF software development and integration into Icera’s cellular platforms.
The role consists of developing and supporting the hardware drivers running on ICERA’s multi-mode cellular baseband chipset, analogue and radio blocks. Specifically this role will be responsible for the radio control drivers, including control of RF components, analog baseband components and digital baseband control and data flows.
In addition to Software driver development, Engineers will work with the system team to define hardware/software architecture and tradeoffs, optimise RF and power consumption performance and support customer platform variations.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Number of years experience:
- At least 3 years experience
Qualifications:
- 1st or 2:1 honours degree in a relevant subject
Skills required:
- Driver development in real time, C/RTOS environment
- Ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team alongside hardware and application software teams
- Work autonomously in a dynamic environment
- Flexibility to contribute to other areas of paltform and/or software development - and opportunities to transition into a wide range of other roles
- Experience of Software driver development for cellular chipsets
- Experience of radio control software
- Experience of serial port and DMA engine drivers
- Use of real-time embedded debug tools
- Use of RF debug tools such as base station emulators, spectrum analysers etc
- Embedded real time operating systems
- 'C' language programming
- Experience of test under simulation enviornment
- Experience with RF devices
- Appreciation of air interface standards including, but not limited to GSM & WCDMA
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of all aspects of radio interface software for state of the art cellular modem platforms
- Participate in specification of reference and customer designs using new radios
- Participate in/drive bringup of modem platforms using new radios in conjunction with hardware and application software teams
- Contribute to other driver, system and software activities as needed.
LOCATION
Based at: Bristol
Percentage of travel: Few days per year.
