Role title: Applications Engineers - Software, Hardware, RF

Icera is building a global business with the latest mobile communications technologies. We are looking for highly skilled hardware, software and RF customer support engineers with proven experience working for major mobile phone manufacturers. Candidates will be responsible for managing all aspects of applications support to designated customers. This will involve supporting customers with their system designs; providing system integration, testing and analysis of problems and responding to all technical inquiries in a professional and competent manner. This work will require hands-on design verification and testing to confirm design performance and will involve travel to customer sites to facilitate this process.

Responsibilities

  • To feedback issues and work closely with core engineering teams to solve customer system issues
  • To provide the technical content for RFI/RFQs
  • To develop compliance statements against industrial standards e.g. operator specifications, 3GPP
  • Development and provision of technical training
  • Development of technical support materials including customer specific documentation
  • To diagnose problems with customer’s designs and troubleshoot customer issues
  • To provide high quality technical support to strategically important customers
  • To liaise with the customer through email, conference calls and visits
  • To manage and control projects with Icera customers
  • Taking an active role in assessing the technical details of new customer projects
  • Developing direct customer relationships to provide recommendations and feedback on new features and requirements
  • Recognizing new business opportunities and building on established relationships with customers
  • To represent the customer from a technical viewpoint facing internal development teams

Profile

  • An experienced customer support or applications engineer or a dynamic development engineer who would like to move to a customer facing role .
  • The ability to understand customer business and technical needs and to translate these into a solution description/spec for Icera core engineering teams
  • Highly proactive, professional communicator
  • Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills
  • Good documentation skills
  • Willing to travel (~40% travel required)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject (Electronic Engineering or equivalent) and at least 3 years relevant experience. Direct experience in mobile communications air interfaces is essential. Experience in an applications, design consulting or technical customer support role would be an advantage. In addition to a solid technical background the applicant must have excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language.
