Role title: Protocol Stack Development Engineer
Location: Cambridge, UK and Sophia Antipolis, France
Icera Inc has recently opened development facilities in Cambridge and Sophia Antipolis and we are looking to build a talented software engineering team in Cambridge and Sophia Antipolis to help develop our cellular software capabilities. We are looking for expertise in all software disciplines related to a complete cellular platform but we are particularly focusing on building expertise in the area of the 3GPP protocol stack, from 2G/3G/HSDPA/HSUPA today to HSPA+ and LTE in the future.
As the ideal candidate you will have significant design/implementation experience in at least one of the major modules of the 2G/3G/HSPA protocol software, such as (U)RLC,(U)MAC, L2, RR, RRC, MM, CC, SM, SIM/SAT, TCP/IP, u-plane, data services/AT commands
You will require a strong degree qualification (ideally 1st or 2.1) from a reputable university and a minimum 2 years ( ideally 5 years+) experience
Essential Skills
- Embedded C programming experience
- Relevant Protocol design experience
- Relevant Protocol implementation experience
- Relevant Protocol testing experience
- Unit-testing
- System testing
- Experience of embedded Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
Desireable Skills
- Experience of using lab based testing equipment such as R&S, Anritsu, Anite
- Experience of using real-time embedded debug tools / emulators
- Experience of GSM/WCDMA/HSxPA GCF or PTCRB approvals
- Experience of GSM/WCDMA/HSxPA Inter-Operability Testing (IOT)
- Good system architecture understanding
- On-site customer support experience
- Ability to travel for validation/customer support
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl and Python
Key Responsibilities
- Design & implementation of new protocol enhancements/upgrades
- Maintenance of developed module for required functionality/performance within entire system
- Contributing to new designs/implementations for new technology developments
- Providing ‘core’ expertise/support to customer engineering group and the marketing department
- Providing ‘core’ expertise to the validation teams as the system is tested for GCF, IOT, field test approval
