Role title: Layer 1 Modem Software Engineer
Location: Bristol, UK
This key engineering role is a great opportunity for the right candidate to be part of building and growing Europe’s most exciting new fabless semiconductor business in cellular wireless. Reporting to the VP modem software and based in Bristol, UK, the successful candidate will be a member of the scheduler team, involved with all aspects of the physical layer embedded software for Icera's modem chipset.
Reporting to: VP, Modem Software
Qualifications: Beng/Bsc or better in an engineering related discipline.
No. of year’s experience: 5-10 embedded systems, >5 wireless systems.
Required Skills
- Exceptional C coding skills.
- Excellent real-time software programming principles.
- Expertise in programming and debugging embedded systems.
- Experience of assembler programming.
- Several years of development of wireless systems, including some in UMTS/HSDPA.
- Layer 1 UE development.
- A current passport.
Desirable Skills
- Development experience of GSM systems.
- Experience of mobile platforms.
- Python coding.
- Linux/Unix programming environment.
- Principles of digital signal processiong.
- Knowledge of HSUPA, HSPA+ and/or LTE
- Experience with source control management and bug tracking systems, ideally Perforce and Bugzilla.
- Full UK driving license.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of physical layer embedded systems
- Support of field trials (10%). Foreign travel is envisaged.
